Faculty of Economics & Business Goes to Malaysia

International Programs and Joint Academic Collaboration for Excellence

1.Visit of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau Islands to Malaysia

On June 11-14, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Riau Islands (UNRIKA) conducted a scientific enrichment trip to Malaysia. This international program, themed “International Programs and Joint Academic Collaboration for Excellence,” was organized by the International Association of Economics and Business. The purpose of this program is to enhance academic excellence and strengthen international collaboration through a series of academic activities and community engagement.

2.Guest Lecture at Universiti Islam Melaka (UNIMEL)

The first major highlight of the program was a guest lecture at Universiti Islam Melaka (UIM). The lecture provided a platform for faculty members and students from both institutions to engage in meaningful discussions on contemporary economic and business issues. Keynote speakers from UNRIKA presented their latest research findings, shared insights on economic trends, and discussed innovative business strategies. This exchange of knowledge not only enriched the academic experience of the participants but also paved the way for future collaborative research projects.

3.Community Service with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

Continuing their journey, the UNRIKA team collaborated with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) for a community service project. This initiative is designed to contribute to the local community while fostering a spirit of cooperation and social responsibility among students and faculty members.

Community service activities include educational workshops, economic empowerment programs for local entrepreneurs, and various social activities aimed at improving community welfare which we carry out at the Kelulut Honey Farm located in Alor Gajah, Melaka, Malaysia. This effort is welcomed and highlights the positive impact of academic institutions working together for the benefit of society.

4.Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IAEB

One of the important activities in this program is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UNRIKA and the International Association of Economics and Business (IAEB). This signing marks the beginning of a formal collaboration aimed at strengthening academic relations, supporting joint research, and creating opportunities for student and lecturer exchanges between the two institutions.

5.Strengthening Academic and Cultural Ties

Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to experience Malaysian culture, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the host country. This cultural exchange further strengthened the bond between UNRIKA and Malaysian universities, paving the way for future collaborations. The program concluded with a formal dinner, where representatives from all participating institutions expressed their commitment to continue working together and celebrated the success of this joint activity.

Looking ahead

The Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Riau Kepulauan is committed to continuously enhancing its efforts in fostering international collaboration. The success of this program underscores the importance of academic partnerships in achieving excellence and making a positive impact on society.

As we look ahead, we are excited by the possibilities and remain committed to promoting academic and cultural exchanges that benefit our students and the wider community (RPH).
